Why do I get an extraneous notification?

Question 1

This only started happening in the last few to several months. I get a notification with a specific status update. I choose Read or Completed then immediately get another status saying New statuses available. That 2nd notification is extraneous - every time. Seems like a bug to me. They use the same notification channel otherwise I'd block it. Is this a known issue?

It's a know issue, but I haven't found a solution yet. It doesn't always happen and is caused by the "group notification" (which needs to be sent for notification grouping to work) not getting dismissed despite sending a dismiss request in the app.
